From the Front Porch

I am an "accidental blogger". When I launched my writing career in March of 2014, one of the things that I decided to include was my journaling, which I have always found to be a comforting and therapeutic endeavor.  It was a big risk to open myself up in such a public forum, but it has taught me that, for the most part, we share far more experiences than we think. It's comforting to know I'm not alone!  (*the "Button Text" is the link to my first novel)

The Threads That Bind Us

I think most of the time we walk through our lives generally clueless to the impact our words have on others, especially those we rarely see (...like friends or family far away) or only see once (i.e. random people in stores, on the streets, at restaurants, etc.). Perhaps we are this way because our minds are so focused inward, on our own troubles, joys, etc., that we are not "mindful" of our impact of everyone and everything we touch in the now...and we do impact all of those things, leaving our footprints and DNA in every space we occupy, however briefly! Many of the blog articles I've written have featured positive and negative words from people in my life that have affected and shaped me in some way. I've discovered, while doing the Kindness Project, the powerful message that makes me hyper-aware of those even on the fringes of my life and the word that hammers inside my brain every time I share with someone is...."connected". We are so very connected to one another in big and little ways and vibrations pass up and down those lines of connectedness all of the time.

As I fine-tune myself to really listen to those vibrations people are sending me and I am sending back, I can vividly feel others' love, pain, anger, frustration, hate, grief, sorrow and joy pinging back at me. It is, at times, over-whelming, but it is also exquisite! Sometimes those vibes are so strong they make my bones rattle! I don't want to ever forget the lessons I'm learning about the impact we have on each other, lest I fall back into the trap of carelessly affecting others, haphazardly spilling out bits and pieces of me and whatever mood I happen to be in to fall unsuspectingly onto others. The quote below says how I feel about it perfectly!

Dedicated in honor of my friend who is facing the battle of her life! You are loved by many and not alone. An army of angels stands at the ready!

    About The Author

I grew up in rural North Carolina. When I was only nineteen, I moved away and became a military wife. My only aspiration at that tender time in my life was to create an adult life that "fixed" all of the "injustices" of my childhood. Secretly, however, I wanted to reach for the sky! I wanted to be a writer and find ways to "save the world" (my mother used to say, "You have Save the World Syndrome".). Mostly, I wanted to matter.

Since then, I have learned to reach well beyond what I ever dared to think was possible. I've learned not to allow fear to stop me from whatever future I want to create!

What keeps me grounded? My Tribe! What provides the wind beneath my wings? A well of reserves filled with unstoppable passion!
