 The Nightmare from toonpool.com Every once in awhile I'll have a dream so vivid, ferocious and frightening that it carries over into my day. Rare, but sometimes it will take several days for it to wear off and get over. Last night I had one that has stalked me all day long and my ability to shake it has been not so good. While I was reading with my students this morning, my brain happily focused on that task, but the shadow of the demon dream lurked there in the corner of my mind, waiting for me to be alone again.
Logic reminds me that it's nothing...just a dream with no power to harm me. Experience reminds me that my dreams from sleep almost never come true. But that panic feeling, the images my brain conjured in the wee hours of the morning still remain fresh and painful, an ache in my chest that keeps me on the verge of ridiculous tears. Oh, how I wanted to crawl back into bed with my husband and just skip Thursday altogether, hide from the whole world under the covers and focus on happy things. Instead, now that I'm home I'm going to curl up on the sofa, turn on some Classical music, wrap my honey's coat around me and throw myself into a book that I've been saving for the "right time" (although seriously, when is there a WRONG time to read???).
