From the Front Porch

I am an "accidental blogger". When I launched my writing career in March of 2014, one of the things that I decided to include was my journaling, which I have always found to be a comforting and therapeutic endeavor.  It was a big risk to open myself up in such a public forum, but it has taught me that, for the most part, we share far more experiences than we think. It's comforting to know I'm not alone!  (*the "Button Text" is the link to my first novel)

Official Name for 2015: Go in the Direction of Your Dreams

Both of my daughters are facing some major milestones this year and that got me thinking about the fact that as a parent, I always want what's best for my children...I think most parents feel the same. But once they reach a certain age, our ability to influence that lessens greatly. My girls are considered adults now, even if to me they are still those pretty little babies whose diapers I used to change (about five minutes ago, or so it feels). I've dubbed this year, Go in the Direction of your Dreams and I'll add, do so ferociously! When broken down to the most basic elements, we are a soul walking around in a clever bag of bones, so really what is there to lose?

Some days can't help but be mundane or rote drudgery, however that doesn't have to mean there's no room for at least a little dash of "extraordinary". Other days are slated for "amazing" things, and every once in awhile (hopefully rarely) you'll have those days that are complete stinkers, where you'd rather just go back to bed, pull the covers over your head and have a "do-over". That's life. It really is what happens while you're busy making plans. 2015 is going to have adversity...for all of us. How we approach those things that attempt to break us....that's the true test of our ability to live "the good life". Anytime we can get up, dust ourselves off and find a bright spot is a win. I hope all of you will be brave with me and head in the direction of your own dreams! Happy New Year.

Always,
A.

    About The Author

I grew up in rural North Carolina. When I was only nineteen, I moved away and became a military wife. My only aspiration at that tender time in my life was to create an adult life that "fixed" all of the "injustices" of my childhood. Secretly, however, I wanted to reach for the sky! I wanted to be a writer and find ways to "save the world" (my mother used to say, "You have Save the World Syndrome".). Mostly, I wanted to matter.

Since then, I have learned to reach well beyond what I ever dared to think was possible. I've learned not to allow fear to stop me from whatever future I want to create!

What keeps me grounded? My Tribe! What provides the wind beneath my wings? A well of reserves filled with unstoppable passion!
