From the Front Porch

I am an "accidental blogger". When I launched my writing career in March of 2014, one of the things that I decided to include was my journaling, which I have always found to be a comforting and therapeutic endeavor.  It was a big risk to open myself up in such a public forum, but it has taught me that, for the most part, we share far more experiences than we think. It's comforting to know I'm not alone!  (*the "Button Text" is the link to my first novel)

"Any day spent with you is my favorite day. So, today is my new favorite day." ~Winnie the Pooh

My girls loved Winnie the Pooh when they were little, completely captivated by the adventures of a boy and his bear. I read them books about Pooh. They watched videos until the tapes were nearly worn out. We sang songs together about rain clouds and the 100 acre wood. They never tired of Pooh Mania! I miss not having the chance to do those things with my son, his life reclaimed to the Heavens before we had the chance. But ohhhh how I'm looking forward to sharing all of that with my grandson!

The magic of a story as seen through the eyes of a child is perhaps one of the greatest wonders of humanity. It is a constant, stark reminder that there is good in this world, innocence worth protecting, and a light that, if we are mindful, will come with us into adulthood. We need that! The world needs more of that to combat the utter neglect with which we care for all living things. I hope the song below brings you back to a happy childhood memory, a time when your eyes were easily filled with wonder. May your weekend overflow with experiences that awaken the child in you!

"It's hard to explain how a few precious things seem to follow throughout all our lives..." ~Return to Pooh Corner by Kenny Loggins

Love Always,
A.

Of all the shows, movies, etc my kids listened to and watched in their childhood, Pooh was always my favorite.

    About The Author

I grew up in rural North Carolina. When I was only nineteen, I moved away and became a military wife. My only aspiration at that tender time in my life was to create an adult life that "fixed" all of the "injustices" of my childhood. Secretly, however, I wanted to reach for the sky! I wanted to be a writer and find ways to "save the world" (my mother used to say, "You have Save the World Syndrome".). Mostly, I wanted to matter.

Since then, I have learned to reach well beyond what I ever dared to think was possible. I've learned not to allow fear to stop me from whatever future I want to create!

What keeps me grounded? My Tribe! What provides the wind beneath my wings? A well of reserves filled with unstoppable passion!
